Established in 2004, Distinction came from humbled beginnings, one man with a desk in his kitchen and a van full of tools doing 90 hour weeks.

Established since 2004, Distinction Property Services Ltd takes pride in the fact that it has been able to serve it’s valued clients for the past 20 years, many of them returning to start their next project with Distinction.

Originally working from a small office in Portishead, with the help of our clients, we have built up the reputation of being one of the most highly reputable and trusted building companies based in Bristol and the wider area, having won Master Builder Of the Year for the South West and runner up Nationally with the Federation of Master Builders. More recently Distinction won Best Builder for the region with the Local Authority Building Control.

We have had an amazing journey having completed over 4000 projects both large and small, domestic and commercial. We hold a strong relationship with our clients as almost every project has come from a recommendation. One of our greatest achievements is working on the 14th property in the same street, all from word of mouth.

Gareth Guiver

Gareth originally trained as a plumber gaining several years of on site experience, he then advanced on to hold managerial status is several other companies before qualifying as an estimator and surveyor at which point he created Distinction in 2004.

Since then he has furthered his education in business studies and construction to obtain a BTEC NC & NVQ levels 3, 4, and 5.

Having been an FMB member for over 8 years, Gareth was asked to join the executive panel back in 2012. Working closely with the FMB to further promote it’s awareness within the public sector, Gareth was voted in as Chairman of the Federation of Master Builders – Bristol Branch in 2013.

In 2015 Gareth was then voted in as Chairman & President of The Federation of Master Builders for the South West of England which enabled him to sit on the board with the CITB and Health & Safety Group London.

As the managing Director of Distinction with over 25 years experience in the construction industry, Gareth’s main role is to make sure that Distinction is providing the excellent service and quality expected by it’s clients.

Whilst continuing the great relationship he has with his residential clients, Gareth has further developed the commercial sector of the business working with hotels, listed buildings, offices, executive dealerships, restaurants and bars.

Don Buckland

Don first worked for Distinction as an electrical subcontractor back in 2007 when he managed and run his own company.

After just a short couple of years it was clear that Don was going to be part of the team so he came on board full time with a clear passion for estimating and surveying.

In 2010 he was made up to a Director in the company and has looked after a large proportion of the residential sector work specialising initially in kitchens and bathrooms but soon progressed on to extensions and loft conversions.

With 14 years experience in the building trade, Don has become a great asset to the company providing an electrical background to match both Gareth and Richards Plumbing and Carpentry skills.
